Haigh Woodland Park completely exceeded our expectations and has easily become one of our favourite family days out in the North West. We visited with our two toddlers and spent over three hours here without anyone getting bored – and the best part? We only managed to explore 3 of the 11 activities available, so we'll definitely be returning.

If you're looking for somewhere that offers a mix of outdoor play, woodland walks and optional paid activities, this is a fantastic choice.

What We Loved

Our toddlers absolutely loved the land train, which was one of the highlights of the day. It's a lovely way to travel through the park and gives little legs a rest while still feeling like part of the adventure.

The huge adventure playground was another big hit, with climbing frames, swings, slides, bridges and plenty to keep children of different ages entertained. There's loads of open space to run around safely too.

The park itself is beautiful, with woodland walks, gardens and picnic spots everywhere you look. Even if you didn't pay for a single activity, you could easily spend a full day here.

Family Facilities ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As a parent, this is one of those places that has clearly been designed with families in mind.

Pram Friendly?
Yes! The main paths around the visitor centre, playgrounds and courtyard are wide, smooth and suitable for pushchairs. Some woodland trails become steeper or uneven, but there's plenty you can enjoy with a buggy.

Baby Changing?
Yes. There are baby changing facilities in both the Visitor Centre and the Stables building, along with accessible toilets.

Toilets
Several toilet blocks are available around the main courtyard area, so you're never too far from one.

Food & Drink
There are cafés, an ice cream shop, bakery and street food options in the courtyard. You can also bring a picnic, which I'd recommend if you're visiting with little ones as there are lots of picnic benches and grassy areas.

One thing I didn't realise before visiting is just how much there is to do. We only experienced a few activities but there are around 11 attractions and activities including:

• Land train (seasonal)
• Adventure Golf (18 holes)
• Crazy Golf
• FootGolf
• Woodland walks
• High Ropes Course
• Low Ropes Course
• Woodland activity sessions (bushcraft, den building and nature activities)
• Golf course
• Railway attractions (the miniature railway is currently being redeveloped, while the model railway runs on selected days).

One of the best things about Haigh Woodland Park is that entry is completely free.

You'll only pay for parking and any optional activities.

Top Tips for Parents

• Arrive early if visiting during school holidays as it gets busy.
• Bring a change of clothes if your children love muddy woodland adventures.
• Pack a picnic to keep costs down.
• Allow at least half a day—you'll need it.
• Wear comfortable shoes as there's lots to explore.

Final Verdict

Haigh Woodland Park is one of those places that's fantastic whether you want a free day out or you're happy to spend a little extra on activities. We honestly thought we'd see everything in one visit, but after three hours we'd barely scratched the surface.

Our toddlers were entertained the entire time, the facilities made life easy as parents, the paths were buggy-friendly, there were plenty of toilets and baby changing facilities, and the atmosphere was lovely.

We'll definitely be going back—and next time we're planning a full day because there's still so much left to discover.
